The Notion AI Agent changes how you work in Notion: With the latest update, it has become a genuine assistant that takes daily work off your hands.
In this tutorial, I'll show you through four examples:
- What the Agent can do.
- How to use it effectively.
- Why it can extremely improve your work in Notion.And at the end, you'll find a free template for the AI Agent, with which you can get started immediately.
What is the Notion AI Agent?
You can think of the Notion AI Agent as a personal assistant with a brain, that now sits in your computer. This assistant truly works with you, rather than simply regurgitating search results.
You'll find the AI Agent on every Notion page: A click on the small face in the bottom right opens the chat. From there, you can talk to it about your tasks, projects, and notes - or about anything you would otherwise type into a Google search field.
What makes it special: The Agent has a personality and can adapt to you. You can name it, give it an accessory, and most importantly, a profile. Through this, it learns how you work, what's important to you, and where your information is stored.

First Example: Creating a Demo Page in Notion
Let's do a test. Open a page, start the chat, and give a clear instruction.
Create a new page in my Notes database with all the formatting you can create.
The Notion AI Agent gets to work and builds you a page with headings, lists, quotes, tables, and colors. You don't need to click anything or do any editing. And if you've stored style rules in your profile, it even adopts your design.
This way, you get a cleanly structured note in seconds.
Second Example: Multi-step Instructions
It becomes truly powerful when you combine multi-step tasks.
A practical example: You have a photo containing text. The quality is mediocre, part of it is missing, and readability is poor.
Upload the image in the Agent chat and give an instruction like:
Convert the text from the attached file into text.
Insert this text into a new page in my Media Library.
Give the page a title that fits the content.
Summarize the text in 3 sentences and format it in my style.
The Agent does exactly that. In the end, you have a new page with a title, compact abstract, and the fully recognized text. This saves you time and helps you maintain an overview.
Third Example: From Meeting Minutes to To-dos
If you take meeting notes in Notion, you know the problem: Bullet points need to become tasks.
The Notion AI Agent does this for you. Simply write:
Transfer the tasks from this meeting to our tasks database and assign the corresponding person in the "Responsible" property.
A GIF OR IMAGE WOULD LOOK GOOD
The Agent reads the note, creates tasks, and adds responsible persons. In my example, the to-dos are visible in the task dashboard a few seconds later. No copy-paste and no duplicate work.
Fourth Example: Your Productivity Coach in Everyday Life
The Notion AI Agent can do more than just execute. It thinks with you. Ask it in the morning:
What's on the agenda today?
It pulls your tasks from the planner, sorts them sensibly, and suggests a sequence.
This is particularly helpful when you're in the middle of a busy day and need quick orientation. It gets even more interesting when looking at the week ahead:
What should I focus on next week – based on my projects and goals?
The Agent bundles your priorities and makes clear suggestions that align with your goals. This helps you move forward with focus.
Agent Profile: Personality and Memory
The key feature of the Notion AI Agent is its Agent Profiles. Here you define how the Notion AI Agent should work with you:
- Personality and tone.
- Important goals and priorities.
- Information sources in your workspace.
- Your working methods and formatting style.
- Brand elements that the Agent should consider.
The profile acts as the Agent's memory. It's a regular Notion page that you can expand as needed. The effect: You can write shorter prompts, the responses become more personal, and the Agent makes decisions that suit you.
By the way, you can also create multiple profiles and switch between them depending on the context.
Overview of All New Features
In summary, this means, the new Notion AI Agent can:
- Create and modify all available Notion blocks.
- Create and update pages.
- Create, populate, and update databases including properties
- Complete multi-step actions.
- Access one or multiple Agent profiles as memory.
Limitations of the Notion AI Agent
As powerful as the Notion AI Agent is, there are a few things you should know:
- File uploads don't always work. If you encounter problems, try a different format or a smaller file.
- A prompt is not always perfect on the first try. Refine it. Short, clear steps work wonders.
- Sometimes the AI overwrites content you wanted to keep. No drama: Simply use the "Undo button" in the AI chat or Notion's page history.
By the way, the Agent respects the permissions of all workspace users. This means you can't use the AI to access information that you wouldn't otherwise have access to in Notion.

The new Notion AI Agent is a true partner for your daily work. It saves you clicks, builds structure, puts information in the right place, and makes suggestions that fit. Above all, it helps you get things done.
